Will Smith isn’t letting this Oscars boycott fuss go just yet — at least not until he makes sure everyone realizes he and Jada Pinkett Smith aren’t merely miffed about him not being recognized for “Concussion” by the Academy.

“It’s so far not about me. It’s not about us going to a show or not. For me, it’s a much bigger social issue,” Smith says in an interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra. “I’m recognizing a pattern of the narrowing of the imagery that the narrowing of tolerance in America. For the last 18 months that I’ve been watching the news and experiencing the things that are going on in my country. My concern is that Hollywood is reflecting a regressive trend.”

And of course he couldn’t address the Oscars issue without talk turning to Janet Hubert, who played Aunt Viv on “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” and recently criticized Smith and his wife for the Oscars backlash. “I think she is brilliant,” Smith offers. “As an artist, there’s so many things that she does. She sings, she dances, she’s like a really powerful artist, so I love what she brought to ‘the Fresh Prince.'” Way to take the high road, buddy.
