The Hub Crawl 2/28: Fenway, Daytona 500 on fire

A fire in the mail room at Fenway Park caused $100,000 of damage Monday.

Boston firemen responded to a call at Yawkey Way around 11:30 a.m. to handle the small fire on the second floor.

Several archival photos stored in the area of the fire were damaged. The cause of the fire was a short circuit near a wall-mounted light fixture, according to the BFD.

NASCAR: The Daytona 500 was postponed a day due to rain. Monday night, things got crazier as driver Juan Montoya crashed into a jet drier and sent the track into a blaze.

NBA: Apparently LeBron James isn’t one for charity. The Miami Heat star told SI.com that he would likely participate in the annual Slam Dunk Contest if there was a $1 million purse at stake.

The contest, which took place this past Saturday, did not exactly have household names in the event.

James, who has been attempting to repair his reputation ever since “The Decision,” didn’t do himself any favors over the weekend.

James has never participated in NBA All-Star Saturday night’s signature event.
