The Mean Girls musical is throwing a pre-party on Broadway

Mean Girls the musical arrives on Broadway in Spring 2018.

If I have to tell you why October 3 is an important date, then this story isn’t for you.

For the rest of you — October 3 is almost here! And while you’ll have to wait until next spring for the Mean Girls musical to arrive on Broadway, the production team is throwing a celebration to kick off ticket sales.

The producers of the show have declared that Tuesday, Oct. 3, will be Mean Girls Day. They will host a special event at the show’s soon-to-be home the August Wilson Theatre (245 W. 52nd St. between Broadway and Eighth Avenue) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with giveaways of swag, a surprise guest to kick things off (dare we hope for Tina Fey?!), and — this is exactly how it appeared in the press release, as it should be — CHEESE FRIES!!! from Sweetery’s.

You’ll also have a chance to enter to win tickets for a preview performance, or lock them down for sure at the theater’s box office, which will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Sweetery’s truck will also be giving out cheese fries at 43rd Street between Seventh and Eighth avenues around 1:30 p.m., then in Union Square West between 16th and 17th streets around 3:30 p.m.

The musical is in the good hands of Fey, who wrote the 2004 movie. She wrote the book for the show, with new music by her 30 Rock composter (and husband) Jeff Richmond and lyrics by Nell Benjamin. Tony winner Casey Nicholaw (Something Rotten!, The Book of Mormon) is handling directing and choreography.

The cast will be led by Erika Henningsen (Cady Heron), Taylor Louderman (Regina George), Ashley Park (Gretchen Wieners) and Kate Rockwell (Karen Smith).

Previews begin Monday, March 12, 2018, with the official opening night on Sunday, April 8, 2018.

If you just can’t wait for the show to arrive, get a sneak peek when Mean Girls premieres Oct. 31 at the National Theatre in Washington, D.C., where it will play until Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017.
