Museums usually ask you not to touch the art. But at the newMuseum of Ice Cream, you’ll be able to eat the art.

The summer-perfect pop-up is coming to 100 Gansevoort St. in the Meatpacking District starting July 29 for a whole month of everything ice cream. It sounds pretty much like Willy Wonka’s factory crossed with childhood dreams and an art gallery. Exhibits will include edible balloons, an “immersive chocolate room,” a themed playground that includes a couples swing shaped like an ice cream sandwich, and a pool filled with giant rainbow sprinkles.

Find your forever flavor (or just the right one for your current mood) in Tinder Land, and admission includes a Scoop of the Week from notable local pros like OddFellows and Black Tap. Oh, and there actually is a Wonka here —Dr. Irwin Adam, who will lead tastings inside the museum’s Future Food Studio.

The Museum of Ice Cream will be open through Aug. 31 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets are $18 (or $30 for a couple, just don’t put the rest of us off our treats with PDAs). Or be there on opening day until 3 p.m. for free admission.
