The Mycestro wearable mouse is literally at your fingertips

A 3D ring wearable is literally giving the finger to the run-of-the-mill and outmoded computer mouse. The Mycestro, which snugly fits around your index finger, is operated by using motion-sensing gestures and thumb actions. The Bluetooth-activated device, which works within a range of 30 feet (9.14 meters), is selling for $149 following a successful Kickstarter campaign. “Some customers claim that the gadget has alleviated medical problems experienced with a regular mouse, because with it they can hold their arms in any orientation they find comfortable,” Jessica Pasko from the Mycestro team told Metro.

What makes your device worth clicking on?

Mycestro lets you control your cursor from anywhere. This simple advantage is much more powerful than most people realize, until they use a Mycestro. Obviously it is perfect for giving presentations, and for computing while traveling by car, bus, train or plane. However, several users find that we can enter data much more quickly with a Mycestro, because our hand never has to leave the keyboard typing position to reposition the cursor.

Did you choose the name Mycestro on purpose?

We picked “Mycestro” because it sounds like “maestro”, which is defined as “a distinguished musician, especially a conductor of classical music”. We thought that our founder, Nick, looked a little bit like a conductor as he waved his arm around while testing the first prototype. In addition, we hoped that by freeing people from having to sit at their desks to work, we could help them become distinguished figures in their own spheres.


Is this an option for those who suffer from mouse wrist cramp?

Some first-time adopters and also rapid multi-taskers say it’s a little slow sometimes. Are you evaluating it? Do you have plans to update features soon?

We already have a Control App that works for both Windows and OS X operating systems. The Control App allows a user to change the performance of the Mycestro. We ship out the Mycestro with what we feel are good ‘beginner’ settings, but as users become more experienced and sophisticated using their Mycestros, they often switch to ‘advanced’ settings which are much faster and more sensitive.
