After being forced inside all weekend, you’ll be more than ready to get back out there. Book lovers know how to party — don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Despite the cold, there are some pretty hot happenings coming up in the NYC book world. Here’s what to add to your calendar:

Nothing going on here, just a casual conversation at a Soho bookstore between a Columbian presidential candidate and a world-famous fashion designer/human rights activist. Ingrid Betancourt and Diane Von Furstenberg are longtime friends and will be talking about Betancourt’s new fiction book, “The Blue Line.” If you can’t make it to the event, you can watch the livestream here.

This is New Yorker by way of South Africa writer Anthony Schneider’s first novel, but early reviews are in and the news is good. “Repercussions” is about an activist who heads to South Africa to make a documentary about the country’s liberation, but while there, he discovers some unsettling family secrets.
