The top 10 things people desperately needed answers for in 2015

These days people turn to the Internet to answer any question they can come up with. Unsurprisingly many people often have the same question.

As a way of closing out the year Google has released this year’s top 10 search queries, many of which were rooted in genuine curiosity, and others inspired by national and international news.

Here are the top 10 “What is” questions people across the United States asked in 2015 along with their answers:

1) What is 0 divided by 0?

There is no answer for this quetstion as it is nearly undeterminable. As Siri explains, “Imagine that you have 0 cookies and you split them among 0 friends. How many cookies does each person get? See, it doesn’t make sense. And Cookie Monster is sad that there are no cookies. And you are sad that you have no friends.”

2) What is Ashley Madison?

Ashley Madison is an online dating service geared towards those in a committed relationship. Their slogan is “Life is short. Have an affair.”

Ashley Madison made headlines this year when they were hacked and the private information of its users was released to the public.

The most notable celebrity to get caught in the hacking scandal was “19 Kids and Counting” star Josh Duggar.

3) What is a buckeye?

A buckeye is both the nut of a Buckeye tree as well as the mascot of Ohio State University.

4) What is the Charlie Charlie Challenge?

The Charlie Charlie Challenge was a highly popular Internet trend in which people would ask a supposed demonic spirit named Charlie questions using a pencil spinning upon another pencil to discern the spirit’s answer.

5) What is a lunar eclipse?

A lunar eclipse is when the Earth’s shadow covers the moon.

6) What is ebola?

Ebola is a highly infectious disease that caused mass hysteria throughout the world as it decimated several countries in Africa. There were a handful of cases in the United States.

7) What is ISIS?

ISIS is an acronym for the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. It is a considered a terrorist group by the United States. It is also known as ISIL and Daesh.

8) What is Red Nose Day?

Red Nose Day is a popular charity effort aimed at helping children in poverty.

9) What is a blue moon?

A blue moon is essentially an extra full moon, and has literally nothing to do with the color of the moon.

10) What is listeria?

Listeria is a very serious bacteria that can make humans incredibly ill. There was at least one major outbreak of the disease in 2015. Symptoms for listeria include fever, ache, chills, vomiting and diarrhea.
