After months of speculation, handsome southern crooner Harry Connick Jr. and former “Idol” judge Jennifer Lopez are officially joining “American Idol 13.”

The two join Keith Urban on the judges panel; stalwart Randy Jackson will be back as an “in-house” mentor. And, what would “Idol” be without Ryan Seacrest? The personality, of course, will be back as host.

“I have always been a huge fan of ‘American Idol’ and really enjoyed my time as a mentor on the show,” said Harry Connick Jr. in a Fox press release. “And I am honored that they’ve asked me to be a judge this season. As an entertainer, I am truly excited to bring my perspective to ‘American Idol’ and to help emerging performers find their way.” For her take on the announcement, Lopez simply tweeted, “#IDOL2014TheRemix.”

According to reports, Lopez came back for a $15 million (plus bonuses) paycheck. As astronomical as that is, it is less than what Mariah Carey commanded for last season, which was $18 million. Hopefully the new additions will help this new season’s ratings: The most recent series of “Idol” was its worstsince the show began airing in 2002.
