Leah Remini, star of “King of Queens” and “The Talk,” is leaving Scientology, Page Six claims.
Apparently Remini, who has been a member of the Church of Scientology for many years, grew tired of the organization’s habit of cutting off ties with people it deems “suppressive.”
“It all began when Leah questioned the validity of excommunication of people,” a source told the Post. “She is stepping back from a regime she thinks is corrupt. She thinks no religion should tear apart a family or abuse someone under the umbrella of ‘religion.’ ”
Apparently, at Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’s wedding, the actress asked politely where church leader David Miscavige’s wife was. It must have been a loaded question, because Remini was slammed with years of auditing and “thought modification.”
Remini is reportedly considering going public, but wants to wait and see what the Church is going to do, since they’re rumored to harass those who try to leave. Leah can stay at my place if she needs to hide out. I am a strong supporter of religious freedom for sitcom stars.
Fellow ex-Scientologist Katie Holmesis reportedly ready to start dating again after her split fromTom Cruise, but the sources say the fallout from their divorce is still having an effect on her, according to Radar Online. “Katie’s in a dilemma, because she wants to date but is concerned where it could lead to from there,” source says. “She’s worried that if she commits herself fully to another man, she will have to give up the freedom she’s enjoying so much at the moment. As a single woman, she has no one controlling her nowadays, telling her what to do or who to see and she absolutely loves it. However, at the same time, she also misses being with someone special to share experiences with and she doesn’t want to be alone for the rest of her life.”
