Slavery was a brutal, shameful period in our nation’s history. African Americans were systematically stripped of their homes, their families and their culture, and endured horrific abuse.

And worst of all, they were never allowed to text during movies.

Thank God for the Emancipation (And Also Text Whenever You Want Even If It’s Very Rude) Proclamation.

That’s the version of American history that would apparently be taught in Madonna’s classroom. The Material Girl was at a screening of “12 Years a Slave” this week. According to Page Six, she texted nonstop through the first half of the movie, and when a fellow moviegoer asked that she stop, she said,“It’s for business . . .enslaver!”

Apparently, her 40-odd minutes of enslavement did not stop Madonna from enjoying the film — she was teary with emotion after its ending, and said she wanted to congratulate director Steve McQueen. He’ll be glad to know that she gained such a deep understanding of slavery from his film.

Another possible Madonna-enslaver spoke out recently: During Cher’s Ask Me Anything forum on Reddit, a fan asked why she hated Madonna. “I never hated her, I just thought she was kind of a bitch,” Cher replied.
