There were a whole lot of jokes made about the strange puffiness that Skyler White’s face developed in later seasons of “Breaking Bad.” Ha ha, awesome, it’s because Anna Gunn had a serious illness.
People are pretty mean about Skyler generally (as Gunn articulately pointed out), so this is just one more reason for them to feel like heels. (Not me. I am always kind to celebrities.) Gunn looked radiant at the Emmys on Sunday, where she explained to reporters the reason for her altered appearance.”I was actually ill while I was filming the show and it affected my weight,” she told People. “They gave me cortisone and I puffed up and gained weight. Now I’m better, thank God.”
The Emmy-winning actress declined to say what her illness was, probably because the Internet would make fun of it.
“Breaking Bad” star Bryan Cranston doesn’t know if his character can be redeemed – and he doesn’t think it matters much.
“Is it important? It’s such a subjective viewpoint. I don’t judge him,” Cranston told Metro. “This was all designed. This series is unlike any in the history of television. This show was meant to be discomforting.
“The hook was to make him sympathetic. We knew that if we could make you sympathize with him at first — in the first couple episodes, we were rooting for him. You were rooting for him to make crystal methamphetamine and sell it to the world. Why is that good? There is ambivalence even in that.”
