Theater: Meet Broadway stars and buy memorabilia for charity on Sept. 22

(Please note, the above video is from last year’s event; this year’s date is Sunday, Sept. 22!)

Are you ready to mingle with your favorite Broadway stars in a casual, fun environment? Want them to sign your Playbill or other souvenirs from your most cherished nights in theater? Want to buy new collective memorabilia from shows past, present and upcoming? It’s all happening on Sunday, Sept. 22, at the Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS flea market and grand auction.

This marks the 27th year of the increasingly popular event, where you get to mix and mingle in the theater district with performers, techies and fellow theater-lovers, and all proceeds go toward a great charity. Though there are lots of little spectacles to witness throughout the day, the big draw is always the Grand Auction, where you can bid on items “from Elphaba’s broom in ‘Wicked’ to the shirt off Tom Hanks’ back.” Walk-on appearances in actual live shows and backstage meet-and-greets are always popular lots up for grabs.

Once again, BC/EFA is aiming to topple last year’s fundraising record of $681,892. Visit the flea market from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Shubert Alley at 44th Street for your chance to participate and contribute.
