Starting tonight, breast cancer survivors will take to the catwalk with designers for Vancouver Fashion Week (VFW).
RozeMerie Cuevas, the designer behind Vancouver label Jacqueline Conoir, says cancer has touched her life. She even named her company after her mother, who died of the disease.
“We’re a big supporter of creating awareness,” she said. “We’ll be happy to give back in any way we can.”
The semi-annual fashion event will showcase more than 40 designers, many of whom will partner with breast cancer survivors to show their clothes.
Cuevas’s collection will kick off VFW tonight at 7 p.m. at the Empire Landmark Hotel. She describes the collection as “soft without being frilly,” adding that the woman she envisions wearing her clothes is “edgy and confident.”
