"Man v. Food" host Casey Webb is shipping up to Boston for the new season of his hit Travel Channel show.

Season two of the recently revived series kicks off on Dec. 4 with Webb's trip to the Hub, featuring stops at a trio of local restaurants, including Flann O’Brien’s Pub. The Irish bar and eatery is a favorite among Mission Hill residents, in part for its mammoth-sized food challenge.

Webb feasted on a 4.5-pound Irish breakfast while filming "Man v. Food" in Boston earlier this year, a challenge he calls "intense," but delicious. The meal consisted of bangers (sausage), rashers (bacon), blood pudding, eggs, potatoes and pancakes.

"It's not a traditional Irish breakfast," Webb says. "These guys put it over the top with the pancakes. That was something to be seen."

The Travel Channel star tells Metro that he had a blast filming at Flann O'Brien's because Irish pubs hold a special place in his heart.

"That was one of my favorite places that we visited because, being in New York and working in restaurants as long as I have, the Irish pub is one of my favorite places," Webb says. "That's exactly what that place is, a local Irish pub and they're just pumping out really great, traditional Irish food."

In addition to taking in the city's Irish pub scene, Webb also stopped at the legendary Durgin-Park in Faneuil Hall for 2.5-pound plate of prime rib, as well as the Boston Burger Company location near Fenway Park. Webb enjoyed a Thanksgiving-themed burger during his stop at the popular Massachusetts chain.

"Traditionally, turkey burgers have been known to be dried out, not moist and blasé. Not there," Webb says. "They build this burger called the Pilgrim, and it's cranberry, mayo, stuffing, turkey burger [with] a toasted bun. It's everything between two buns that you would want for Thanksgiving."

This isn't the first time that "Man v. Food" has stopped in Boston. During Adam Richman's time as the series' host, the show took a trip to the Hub in its debut season with an episode that featured former Red Sox player Kevin Youkilis and the enormous, 12-pound Eagle's Challenge Burger at Eagles Deli in Brighton.

"Man v. Food" will make a second trip to New England this season when it travels to Burlington, Vermont. The episode, which airs Dec. 18, will showcase a beer-infused bagel, as well as a 3.5-pound breakfast sandwich challenge.
