Say it isn’t so! We’re heading into the last few weeks of August, which means summer is rapidly coming to a close. From lobster rolls by the beach to movies under the stars, here’s our end-of-summer Boston bucket list.

End-of-summer Boston bucket list

Boston bucket list

1. Feast on lobster rolls at Kelly’s Roast Beef

If you haven’t taken a trip out to Revere Beach, what are you waiting for? OK, we know the area gets a bad rap from time to time, but the trek is well worth it, if only to enjoy the legendary lobster rolls over at Kelly’s Roast Beef. The eatery is a Massachusetts institution and no summer in the Bay State is complete without indulging on some tasty seafood.

2. Kayak along the Charles River

Take a relaxing ride down the Charles River before the warm weather season leaves the city. If you don’t have your own equipment, there are plenty of rental locations around the Hub, including spots in Allston, Kendall Square and Somerville. Get all the details on how to set up your end-of-summer kayak trip at paddleboston.com.

3. Enjoy a movie under the stars

There’s no shortage of outdoor movie screenings around the city, so there’s no excuse for skipping an evening of cinema under the stars. This weekend, catch “Tarzan” outdoors at the Prudential Center on Saturday, or Friday screenings of “Hook” on at the Boston Harbor Hotel and “Beauty and the Beast” at the Hatch Shell. Check out a full breakdown of this summer’s al fresco screenings here.

4. Take a trip to Spectacle Island

Located just 20 minutes from Downtown, this local island destination is just a ferry ride away. Make a trip over to Spectacle Island for a day of swimming by the beach, hiking scenic trails and so much more. Just make sure to stop by there soon, as it closes up shop on Columbus Day.

5. Sip away at beer gardens

Enjoying a few brews doesn’t have to stop when summer ends, but there’s nothing like sipping away at an outdoor beer garden. From Trillium on the Greenway to Aeronaut in Allston, there are a slew of great spots around town. Boston also recently became home to two more beer garden hotspots courtesy of Night Shift, one located by the Esplanade and another at Herter Park in Brighton.
