Eat your end-of-summer feelings at Dominique Ansel’s Pie Night

Summer is almost over, which means it’s just about time for pie season — we mean, autumn. French-born chef Dominique Ansel may have grown up around tarts, but he’s been turning out better pies than your American granny since starting Pie Night at Dominique Ansel Kitchen in 2015. And your chance at Pie Night 2018 tickets is almost here.

The deal is unlimited slices of pie — 10 kinds, with sweet and savory options — to be enjoyed on the patio of Ansel’s West Village bakery. There will be apple cider sangria to welcome you (and more throughout the night) and a little treat to take with you for later. This year, he’s added a fourth week of Pie Nights, not that that will stop them from selling out almost immediately. The dates for Pie Night 2018 are: Sept. 12-13, 19-20, 26-27 and Oct. 3-4. Each evening has three one-hour seatings: 7 p.m., 8:15 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

A couple of tips to get the most out of your Pie Night: Arrive early, load up on savory pies on your first pass (they’re the fastest to go), and politely decline the free ice cream to make it à la mode when one of Ansel’s friendly staffers comes around — you need that belly space for more pie.
