The Other Side: A Psychological Séance to spook (un)lucky 13 guests

You won’t know the exact location until you buy your ticket. Once you buy your ticket, you’ve already decided to confront your fears. It’ll all be OK, because 13 of you will face The Other Side during a seance together.

Just don’t break the circle, mentalist Jason Suran warns.

Friday the 13th is an appropriate night to start the show.

Starting on Friday the 13th at 7:30 p.m. and running for a limited two-week engagement leading to Halloween, The Other Side: A Psychological Séance is a microtheater event calling upon the Victorian era… and spirits.

Each night, 13 guests will meet at a private residence in Williamsburg and enjoy a complimentary cocktail half hour and hors d’oeuvres courtesy of GEM&BOLT mezcal + damiana.

“I think people can expect to play a bigger role in the night’s events than they may be used to when they go to see a show,” Suran told us. “A seance is all about building connection and facing fear.”

After the guests —looking dapper in their formal attire —mingle and bond, Suran will start you on your spooky journey.

“The show began as an exploration of the history of the seance and what drew people to it in the first place,” Suran explained. “I’ve always been interested in the methods and theatrics of the psychic world and wanted to see if I could use my skills as a mentalist to replicate a Victorian seance for a modern audience.”

Rather than a serious, religious seance, Suran focuses on the Victorian ceremony components: spectacle, mind-reading and basic “wait, what just happened?” brain-bending moments.

Anything can happen when attempting to cross the veil. Or is it all in your mind?

If you are ready to face your fears, this is what you need to know about the seance.

Guests must be over the age of 21. Address disclosed with ticket purchase. Tickets are $130 for the two-hour experience with group booking options available.

In addition, The Other Side will debut a private VIP-exclusive séance installation as a guest collaborator at The Illuminati Ball at The Weylin on Friday, Oct. 20. Check out the website for more information.

The Other Side is produced by Adam Rei Siegel and features creative consulting by Todd Robbins and Kevin Kapinos, scenic design by Tanvi Malik and a custom art installation by Jennifer Mien Mien Lin.
