Bucks County Playhouses’ Acting Apprenticeship is holding local and NYC auditions

This Saturday (Jan. 11), the new Bucks County Playhouse Acting Apprentice Program, led by Broadway choreographer and founder of “Steps On Broadway” Patrice Soriero, will hold auditions for its Summer 2020 program. The Philly auditions will take place at Lambertville Hall (57 Bridge St.) along with more auditions taking place in New York City on Saturday, Jan. 26. If you do feel like taking a trip to the Big Apple, auditions will be at Manhattan Movement and Arts (248 W 60th St.). Both auditions are open for students over 18 years old about to start college, as well as those currently enrolled in college.

Stars-to-be who are interested can secure a slot by sending a headshot and resume to [email protected]

The release states that in addition to these auditions, casting for the Acting Apprentice program will be conducted nationwide through both live auditions and video submissions. Apprentices come from some of the top-ranking musical theatre programs at colleges and universities throughout the country and have been accepted in past years from the University of Michigan, University of Cincinnati, Syracuse University, Rider University and Point Park University.

A live audition is recommended for the Acting Apprentice program, but if  a video is your only way in, interested participants can submit videos to [email protected] with a headshot, resume, completed application, as well as video of a 32-bar cut and a short dance combination (sent as a link on YouTube, Vimeo, or another video-sharing website) included by Saturday, February 1.

The focal point of 2020’s Summer Apprentice Program will be the Playhouse’s new production of “The Addams Family” directed by Hunter Foster and choreographed by Shannon Lewis. According to the release, apprentices will become part of the acting company of the show, serving as chorus members and/or swings. Orientation will begin on June 5, the production begins rehearsal June 9, and runs June 28 – August 1, 2020. In addition, Apprentices will perform in the Playhouse’s new cabaret series, learn from Broadway professionals through a masterclass series, and may have the chance to appear in readings of new works in development.

After the orientation weekend in New Hope, apprentices will get to take their talents to Broadway in New York City and work in one of their acclaimed rehearsal spaces for two weeks before returning to New Hope.
