Beginning today, Mile End is bringing back its Poutine Week dedicated to taking Canada’s fries-cheese-gravy dish to new culinary places – with a special contribution by The Fat Jewish.The menu will consist of five poutines ($20 each) and will be served at all Mile End locations. Upper West Side boutique hotel NYLO is bringing bourbon country to the city for one weekend. From Friday through Sunday, follow the lead of master blender Trey Zoeller, founder of Jefferson’s Bourbon, for a weekend of private tastings and blending lessons. With the Urban Bourbon Trail Package ($229.50 per night), guests get two nights’ accommodation, a private tasting of Jefferson’s, a blend-your-own-whiskey lesson (with a bottle to take home) and a copy of Zoeller’s book, “Bourbon in Kentucky,” and a map of NYC’s best whiskey bars to continue their education – with a MetroCard. On Friday, Craftbar is putting on a maple-centric dinner ($85) inspired by the Canadian cabanes à sucre: log cabins where sap is traditionally boiled down to make maple syrup. The history of Webster Hall, built in 1886, is the history of New York City, from politics to progressive events and even mobsters during the Prohibition era. To toast this splendid vestige of Old New York, all four floors will be turned over to tasting beers and whiskeys from around the world, alongside a lineup of Jazz Age musical performances, including Michael Arenella and His Dreamland Orchestra, the Queen Esther Trio and vaudeville, burlesque and circus acts.
