The Scone Witch has cast a unique spell on Ottawa. At two locations (one downtown and one in New Edinburgh), you can order all sorts of sandwiches that are served on unique square-shaped scones.
I ordered bacon, lettuce and tomato with pesto on a cheddar cheese scone ($5.50). Though the bacon wasn’t heated, and the ratio of scone to filling was heavy on the scone side, it was still enjoyable.
On another visit, I had the poached salmon with cucumbers on the herb and onion scone.
That time, however, I was a little disappointed because the salmon was too mild in flavour and needed some punch.
The brownie bite ($0.95), however, was light and chocolatey, and I was wishing it wasn’t just a one-bite brownie!
The Scone Witch is bewitching. I’m under its spell.
