Three charged in teen’s assault at C-Train station

Three people have been charged in relation to an assault near a Calgary C-Train station, police said Thursday.

A 17-year-old male was found with a large gash on the back of his head when police responded to a reported altercation near the Canyon Meadows LRT platform.

After their investigation, police said Thursday that the 17-year-old male and a 19-year-old male confronted a lone male. Upon seeing the confrontation, two other males came to the assistance of the lone male, police said.

The altercation continued with the 17-year-old and the two others who arrived to help. Police say this is when the 17-year-old received the injuries.

Based on his alleged role in the confrontation, police said the 17-year-old has been charged with assault, and cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

John Edward Walker, 18, of Calgary has been charged with one count of aggravated assault and another 17-year-old male was also given the same charge, but cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, police said.
