Three pedestrians killed over the weekend in New York City

Three pedestrians were killed in fatal collisions across the city over a one-day time span.

The first accident was Saturday morning at 4:49 a.m. in Queens when 34-year-old Latrisha Been was struck by a truck on the Van Wyck Expressway during a hit-and-run, police report.

Been was pronounced dead at the hospital. Police arrested 34-year-old Carl Alvear in connection with the accident and he has been charged with Manslaughter.

Another accident took place on Saturday in Brooklyn when 44-year-old Jose Santiago was struck by a Chrysler on Nostrand Ave., and Avenue W. Santiago suffered head trauma and was later pronounced dead on arrival at Coney Island Hospital.

The driver in the crash stayed on the scene and an investigation is still ongoing.

The third accident took place Sunday morning at 5:41 a.m. at West 32nd St., and Fifth Ave. when a 49-year-old woman was trying to cross the street and and was hit by a Chevy Camaro. The victim’s identity has been withheld and an investigation is ongoing.
