If there’s one thing we know about Tiki Barber, it’s that he always manages to say and do the right thing. So, when talking about how he had to hide with his girlfriend, in the house of his agent Mark Lepseiter, guess what simile he used?
“Lep’s Jewish,” says Barber, “and it was like a reverse Anne Frank thing.”
There has of course been a little bit of outrage about this, and rightly so! Yes, it was a joke, but still— comparing going into hiding because people are mad that you left your pregnant wife for an intern to going into hiding because people want to kill you and everyone else of your religion is the sort of thing that tends to get people riled up.
It’s worth thinking about, though: In five short years Tiki has evolved from a beloved veteran leader to a spiteful narcissist. Has any athlete ever been so spectacularly bad at image management? (via the Daily News)
