Timothy Sykes: 3 Ways to begin 2015 with a vacation

Every January I take a vacation to give myself a fresh start, and this year it’s a week stay in Bali. I’m very fortunate to be able to bring my work with me as I can trade stocks and blog from anywhere in the world and while most people can’t work from an exotic location, everyone can take a break, even if it’s a small one to start the year. Here are three ways to treat yourself to a vacation:

Vacation #1: Exotic Travel
I’ve been to Bali once before and it’s an incredible place to refresh your mind and body. Beautiful temples, warm tropical weather, perfect beaches, amazingly kind locals, and interesting food, not to mention a very strong U.S. dollar all help make Bali a great choice for a January vacation. The same can be said about other favorites of mine like Thailand, Bora Bora, Turks & Caicos, Bahamas & British Virgin Islands. Maybe I’m a bit biased since I hate the cold, but I appreciate beaches and warm weather even more during the month of January.
Vacation #2: Your local spa
For those who can’t afford the money or time that it takes to travel to distant locations, travel to your local spa for a few hours and truly unwind. This is a much cheaper and more economic option and it’s even better if you go with a friend or loved one. Do research to find the highest rated spas in your area and call them ahead of time to see if they have any specials; they usually do.
Since you’re not spending any vacation money on airfare and a hotel, you don’t have to feel guilty about splurging for the nicest spa in your area, unless you’re really strapped for cash. Of course it’s not worth breaking the bank for, but never underestimate the way a good massage every now and then can really improve your life and well being.
Vacation #3: Visit famous landmarks
If you’re not a fan of exotic travel or spa services, treat yourself to some culture and celebrate any one of humanity’s great achievements and architectural wonders. In the past six years since I’ve been teaching people how to profit in the stock market, I’ve discovered studying and performance is significantly improved when my students think about specific goals and visual representations of those goals.
Posting pictures in your home and office of great landmarks like the pyramids in Egypt, The Great Wall of China, The Eiffel Tower, Statue Of Liberty & the Liberty Bell and then rewarding yourself by actually visiting them in person can do wonders for your mindset and overall success and achievements in life.
Things I liked this week:
1.The NFL playoffs have begun!
2.It’s a New Year, time for the U.S. stock market to offer up even more opportunities than last year.
3.”The Interview” was actually pretty funny and enjoyable.
