Of course Tom Brady’s best bud is going to have his back.

Aaron Shea, a former teammate of Brady’s at Michigan who had No. 12 as a groomsman in his wedding, said that it’s common practice for the ultra-famous Brady to discard of his cellphone.

“I know every couple of years he has changed phones, and he has been doing this since he won his first Super Bowl,” Shea told ESPN.”Is that the same as destroying his phone? I don’t know. But I know he gets rid of his phone regularly. If I were him and married to the woman he’s married to, I know I would get rid of my phone after all these high-profile people have had their phones and personal information hacked.”

Shea said that Brady is far from a “cheater.”

“It’s not him,” Shea said. “Since I’ve known him, he’s been honest and straightforward.”Even at Michigan, he was the guy who would tell people to go to class, that kind of thing.Tom is my son’s godfather, and I picked him for a reason. He told me it was an honor.”

Brady wrote on his Facebook wall Wednesday that he only discarded the cellphone in question after his lawyers told him that it wouldn’t be needed in the investigation.

“I also disagree with (Tuesday’s) narrative surrounding my cellphone,” Brady wrote. “I replaced my broken Samsung phone with a new iPhone 6 AFTER my attorneys made it clear to the NFL that my actual phone device would not be subjected to investigation under ANY circumstances. As a member of a union, I was under no obligation to set a new precedent going forward, nor was I made aware at any time during Mr. Wells investigation, that failing to subject my cell phone to investigation would result in ANY discipline.

“Most importantly, I have never written, texted, emailed to anybody at anytime, anything related to football air pressure before this issue was raised at the AFC Championship game in January. To suggest that I destroyed a phone to avoid giving the NFL information it requested is completely wrong.”
