Tornado, large hail forecast for New York City Thursday night

New Yorkers are being warned to prepare for severe weather Thursday night, as a massive storm front bears down on the tri-state region.

High winds of up to 60 miles per hour, downpours of rain, large hail and even possibly a tornado are forecast to start at 7 p.m. in Manhattan. The storm is supposed to continue until midnight.

On the city website, it reads that New Yorkers should prepare for possible severe storms Thursday, including high winds, heavy rain, and even tornadoes. New Yorkers are advised to stay indoors.

A tornado reportedly touched down in Elmira, N.Y. at 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon, about 180 miles north of the city. The twister blew off roofs, downed power lines, and uprooted trees.
