Transgender model aims to adopt child conceived from her frozen sperm

Transgender model Fay Purdham wants to be the first person in Britain to become the mother to a baby she fathered, according to a recent Daily Mail report, which added that Purdham, who was born Kevin McCamley, has launched a £100,000 ($152,000) crowdfunded campaign to find a surrogate mother.

Once the baby is born, she plans to be the child’s adoptive mother.

Purdham said to the Daily Mail, “Even before I knew I wanted to become a woman, I wanted to be a mother. I have transitioned to my chosen gender, but it’s a huge task and cost to do this, so I’ve set up a GoFundMe page to help me on my journey to become a mother and have my dreams come true.”

Purdham had her first gender reassignment surgery at 21 after discussing the issue of becoming a woman with her doctor at 16, according to the Daily Mail, which also stated that she recently came third in the first Miss Transgender UK finals. She is also now preparing to marry her boyfriend, Chris Dodd, 24, who was her best friend at school when she was still a boy, the report said.

“When I saw Fay again, I was gobsmacked by how beautiful she was, and I fell for her immediately. It took me some time to get my head around the fact that she used to be my best friend Kevin, but I have never looked at her in any other way other than the fact she is a gorgeous woman,”Dodd said in the Daily Mail.

“I feel like I have become a kind, humble woman, which is a better female role than a diva,”Purdhamwas quoted in the Daily Mail. “I think people need to be careful with the use of the word ‘transgender.’ I didn’t go through all this to become transgender, I did it to become a woman.”
