Transit changes hit this weekend

A spokeswoman for Metro Transit says the changes coming to bus routes and schedules this weekend aren’t meant to please everyone — just the majority of users.

“Whenever you’re making changes, you’re making it for the better to try to be convenient for as many people as possible,” Lori Patterson said on Thursday.

“But you always have somebody that it’s impacting that may not be happy with it.”

A variety of changes take effect on Sunday. New routes include the No. 8 along Halifax’s waterfront, No. 22 in the Armdale district and No. 57 on and around Russell Lake Drive in Dartmouth.

This fall, users of No. 3 Manors were left finding other transportation options after the route was eliminated.

The service adjustments come as a part of the five-year strategic operations plan by the municipality.

“This is the first roll out of some of those new services,” she said. “It’s something we’ve been working towards for a while.”
