Transit crunch was ‘average’: TransLink

Yesterday’s predicted back-to-school transit crush was actually “fairly average,” and at worst people had to wait two trains before getting on SkyTrain, according to TransLink.

Top hot spots were the Commercial-Broadway SkyTrain Station and Production Way, according to TransLink’s Drew Snider.

Some SFU-bound students at the latter stop had to wait three buses — about 10 minutes — before getting onboard.

“The thing to remember is it could well be busier (today). Many people … take the day after Labour Day off and then come back to work on Wednesday. Students didn’t have classes (yesterday), so buses to UBC and SFU may be more crowded (today), as well.”
