TransLink claims driver misunderstood fare card

A bus driver who refused to allow a gay couple from using what he believed was a family pass misunderstood the terms of the FareCard, a TransLink spokesperson said Thursday.

“It is widely perceived by transit operators and users that this is a family pass,” said spokesperson Ken Hardie of the FareCard.

“(But) you can bring up to one other adult or up to four children,” none of whom have to be related.

Daniel Ma and his partner David Evans claimed earlier this month that a bus driver called them “freeloaders.”
