Take a peek inside the New York City apartments you only dream about.
This Sunday, Tribeca residents are openings the doors of their tricked-out pads to the public for the 13th annual Inside Tribeca Loft Tour. Hosted by Friends of Duane Park, the program offers a close-up view of lofts that make creative use of space and boast original landmarked details.
The tour consists of 10 stops, including a newly renovated eight-bedroom triplex on Watts Street and a top-floor apartment on Hudson Street, which features panoramic views of Manhattan out of its colossal arched windows. A highlight is artist Kate Maracle’s modern-meets-country apartment. While her funky artwork decorates the walls, vintage furniture — including an old dresser she converted into a bathroom sink — give the space a cozy, cottage feel.
This year, the tour will include an extra stop outside the Tribeca border. Interior designer Ghislaine Vinas’ work in Tribeca has stunned viewers before, so Friends of Tribeca are making an exception and allowing one of Vinas’ clients to showcase a four-floor penthouse just outside City Hall Park. Tickets for this viewing are sold separately and are limited to the first 250 people.
Besides helping New Yorkers live out their voyeuristic fantasies, the tour does good for the community. All of the proceeds help support restoration of Duane Park, the second- oldest park in New York City.
