Trump blasts DNC race as ‘rigged’

President Donald Trump took to Twitter early Sunday morning to comment on the Democratic National Committee election that took place the previous night, charging the chairman’s race was “rigged” against Keith Ellison, a candidate backed by former presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.

Ellison, a congressman from Minnesota,narrowly lost the chairman’s seat to Tom Perez, the former labor secretary under Barack Obama, whom Trump alleged was Hillary Clinton’s pick.

The race for DNC chairman was largely split among party lines, sparking similar internal divides as seen between Clinton and Sanders in the primary race. Many of the people who backed Sanders were behind Ellison.

Trump’s comments Sunday followed several heated Twitter exchanges between himself and members of the Democratic Party the previous day.

Saturday morning, the 45th president tweeted, “Maybe the millions of people who voted to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN should have their own rally, ” Trump tweeted. “It would be the biggest of them all!”

Sanders responded with side-by-side images of Trump’s inaugural crowd versus Obama’s in 2009, telling the president, “They did. It wasn’t.”

Trump got burned again later Saturday, after tweeting congratulations to Perez, saying he “could not be happier for him, or for the Republican Party.”

Perez, the first-ever Latino to lead the party, responded with a warning:
