Trump campaign manager accused of battery by Breitbart reporter

Reporter Michelle Fields has filed charges alleging that Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski grabbed and pulled her, leaving bruises on her arm, but questions remained about who actually touched her.

On Friday, Jupiter, Florida, police said they were investigating Fields’ claim that Lewandowski forcefully moved her out of Trump’s path as the candidate was leaving a news conference, Newsweek has reported.

“Someone … grabbed me tightly by the arm and yanked me down. I almost fell to the ground, but was able to maintain my balance. Nonetheless, I was shaken,” a statement from Fields was quoted by Newsweek.

The Trump campaign has denied the accusations, with Trump saying that maybe she “made the story up,” Newsweek added.

The moment when Fields was allegedly grabbed was not caught on video, and Fields said she did not see who touched her,CNN Moneyreported, adding that her employer, Breitbart News, has contradicted her accusations against Lewandowski.

In aBreitbartreport, it was suggested that an event security official, not Lewandowski, was the one who touched Fields.

Breitbart has claimed that a video taken before the alleged incident showed a man similar to Lewandowski who was walking nearby and may be the source of the confusion surrounding who touched Fields.

“The accusation, which has only been made in the media and never addressed directly with the campaign, is entirely false,” Trump campaign spokeswoman Hope Hicks said to CNN Money.
