A dossier ordered by the Kremlin on President Donald Trump has called him “naive,” saying the billionaire businessman “doesn’t understand fully” Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The report on Trump’s psychological makeupis being prepared for Putin ahead of his first meeting with Trump, the date of which has yet to be announced,NBC News reported.
Retired diplomats and members of Putin’s staff are putting together the dossier, which also states that many members of Russia’s government believe Trump views the presidency as a business.
“Very serious preparatory work is going on in the Kremlin, including a paper — seven pages — describing a psychological portrait of Trump, especially based on this last two to three months, and the last weeks,” former Deputy Foreign Minister AndreiFedorovtold NBC News. Fedorov has known Trump since 2000.
While reports on foreign leaders isn’t unusual to prepare ahead of briefings, especially when a transfer of power takes place, NBC News says ones of this depth are uncommon.
According to Fedorov, the Kremlin is growing wary of Trump’s battles on Capitol Hill. While Trump has alluded to lessening or lifting U.S. sanctions on Russia, former national security advisor Michael Flynn’s resignation last week for engaging in such discussions with the nation before Trump’s inauguration has stoked concerns in the U.S. that Trump’s administration has deeper ties to Russia than initially thought.
Meanwhile, the FBI is pursuing at least three separate probes relating to Russia’s intervention in American politics, including alleged cyber-crimes and counter espionage.
