Trump on State Department job vacancies: ‘I’m the only one that matters’

Donald Trump I'm the only one that matters

Apparently, President Trump believes he is the only person that matters in the State Department.

On Thursday night, President Trump sat down with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham on her show “The Ingraham Angle” and during the segment the Fox News host asked him questions regarding the State Department. Trump was asked to talk about the unfilled positions in the State Department, for which he’s previously been criticized.

“Are you worried that the State Department doesn’t have enough Donald Trump nominees in there to push your vision through?” Ingraham asks during the Fox News interview Thursday night.

Trump then responds in a way many of us are familiar with.

“So we don’t need all the people that they want,” Trump said. “Don’t forget, I’m a businessperson and I tell my people, ‘Where you don’t need to fill slots don’t fill them.’ But we have some people that I’m not happy with there.”

Trump follows by reminding Ingraham and everyone watching the interview who’s in charge.

“Let me tell you, the one that matters is me.” Trump adds, “I’m the only one that matters because when it comes to it, that’s what the policy is going to be. You’ve seen that, you’ve seen it strongly.”

Trump’s comments made him appear as if he does not understand the importance of high-level position in the State Department, but Trump argues it’s more about saving money.

“It’s called cost saving,” Trump said. “I want my vision, but my vision is my vision anyway. It’s called cost saving. There’s nothing wrong with cost saving.”

Trump continues by adding that Rex Tillerson is “working hard” and “doing the best he can.”

President Trump is currently preparing to travel on a 12-day trip to visit Japan, South Korea, China, Vietnam and the Philippines to meet with leaders.
