Trump trash talks United Nations before indecorously promoting his property

United Nations

True to form, President Donald Trump spent his first United Nations address on Monday trashing the very people to whom he was speaking before shamelessly plugging one of his own properties.

At a forum about reforming the U.N., Trump said the intergovernmental agency “has not reached its full potential because of bureaucracy and mismanagement.”

“While the United Nations on a regular budget has increased by 140 percent and its staff has more than doubled since 2000, we are not seeing the results in line with this investment.”

Trump pressed the 193-country gathering to focus “more on people and less on bureaucracy” without suggesting any specific reforms he’d like to see made.

“We seek a United Nations that regains the trust of the people around the world,” Trump said. “In order to achieve this, the United Nations must hold every level of management accountable, protect whistle-blowers and focus on results rather than on process.”

Prior to his electoral college win, Trump called the U.N. “not a friend of democracy” and disparaged it as “a club for people to get together, talk and have a good time.” He promised change when he took office but hasn’t given any indication that the United States will withdraw its support for the 72-year-old institution.

But it seems POTUS gives the U.N. credit for boosting the value of his nearby property Trump World Tower.

“I actually saw great potential across the street, to be honest with you, and it’s only for the reason that the United Nations was here that that turned out to be such a successful project,” he said.

The residential building was completed in 2001. Trump and his family lived there prior to his move to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Trump’s youngest son, Barron, had a floor all to himself where mom Melania Trump said he was encouraged to decorate as only a grade-schooler could.

An alleged Russian mob boss is accused of running his criminal enterprise from Trump Tower and the 45th floor was purchased by the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Part of that real estate is used for the Saudi Mission to the United Nations.
