Try 30 restaurants for $4 or less at Winter’s Eve food festival

The Upper West Side’s annual holiday celebration, which doubles as the city’s least spendy food festival, is back.

The 17th annual Winter’s Eve takes place Nov. 28 and will include more than 30 local restaurants lining the sidewalks from Columbus Circle up Broadway all the way to 66th Street. Participants run the gamut from fancy to fast-casual, like Masa’s only-slightly-less-exclusive outpost Bar Masa serving a spicy tuna roll and Sugar Factory American Brasserie, opening soon in Lincoln Square, previewing its s’mores hot chocolate and more. You’ll also find slow-roasted goat with polenta from Gabriel’s, toasted ricotta gnocchi with white truffle cream at The Smith and lobster&shrimp bisque from Atlantic Grill.

Dishes can be appetizers, drinks or desserts, all for no more than $4 each. Start lining up when the stalls open at 5:30 p.m. if you hope to eat your way through all of them by closing time at 8:30 p.m. Make time to enjoy the live music and street performers along the foodie route, too. A portion of proceeds from the Winter’s Eve tastings will be donated to New York Cares.
