Tufts students are being warned to keep their pants on this December.
Officials at the university are threatening to suspend coeds for an entire semester in the spring if they disobey a ban on the annual Naked Quad Run, which was nixed by officials last year.
According to the University’s website, in the spring semester of 2011, “following a problem-plagued student Naked Quad Run on the last day of classes” in December 2010, Former President Lawrence S. Bacow vetoed the nude marathon tradition.
On November 8, of this year, a unanimous vote passed by the schools Committee on Student Life backed that ban adding that any student apprehended defying the order, “constituted by public nudity, public intoxication” will be subject to disciplinary suspension of one semester.
The Tufts Daily student paper reports Bruce Reitman,Dean of Student Affairs, sent an email to students and their families this week warning of the possibility of suspension.
Even if a student attempts to organize the naked fun run they are subject to those actions, according to a statement made by university officials on their website.
“University officials will use their judgment to determine whether an individual’s public semi-nudity constitutes a violation of the ban,” according to the amendment made in the Code of Conduct expectations for Tufts students.
