Tuna flat racing not Olympic, but still fun

Like the pumpkin regatta in Windsor, the tuna flat race in Hubbards is far from an Olympic sport, but it’s a lot of fun.

On Saturday, teams will start from a buoy in Hubbards Cove and row hard for shore, and for glory.

Susan Ross said it’s addictive.

“I bought my own tuna flat this year because I love it so much.”

Since they started five years ago, her team doesn’t win very often but it creams the competition for best costume.

“We rely on that,” she said.

“We do that just for fun and it gets everyone in a good mood.”

In previous years the women have dressed as KISS, Captain Hooker and the Oars, and Chicks Ahoy.
