TV picks: Weekend, Dec. 14-16

“Homeland”

DRAMA. What’s most terrifying about this tightly written terrorist thriller isn’t the next potential threat against the United States (nor is it Carrie’s crying) — it’s the idea that the “Homeland” masterminds have led us to believe killing off central character Brody is a real possibility.

Season finale, Sunday, 10 p.m., Showtime

“Winter in Portlandia”

COMEDY. Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein offer this half-hour holiday treat as a preview to Season 3 (premiering Jan. 4), which includes a sketch, of course, about how Portland residents deal with depressing Pacific Northwest winters.

Friday, 10:30 p.m., IFC

“Royal Pains Off-Season Greetings”

COMEDY. Evan and Paige get married in the winter wonderland that is the Hamptons — or they try to, at least.

Sunday, 9 p.m., USA

“VH1 Divas”

SPECIAL. Adam Lambert hosts this tribute to Whitney Houston and Donna Summer with the support of a few other Divas — Jordin Sparks, Demi Lovato, Kelly Clarkson, Miley Cyrus and Ciara included.

Sunday, 9 p.m., VH1

“Survivor”

REALITY. Malcolm Freberg, Michael Skupin, Denise Stapley and Lisa Whelchel — yes, Blair from “The Facts of Life” — face off in the live finale that names the competition’s new millionaire.

Season finale, Sunday, 8 p.m., CBS
