Twig blossomed quickly. Originally opened in 2005 on Tremont Street in the South End by owner Lou Whitney, the shop has a new Beacon Hill location which opened less than a year ago.
“I didn’t intend necessarily to open a flower shop, but after looking around the neighborhood a little, I thought a flower shop would be ideal,” Whitney says. “I wanted to come up with a name that was really sort of contemporary and very straight-forward and would make people smile, so I came up with the name Twig and about three weeks later I was in business.”
Whether you’re looking for birthday gifts, adornments for home, a get-well-soon wish or just a random act of kindness, Twig provides all of the above.
In addition to offering arguably the best fresh-cut flowers and plants in all of Boston, the shop prides itself on being affordable while maintaining the high-end quality they demand in their flowers.
“Twig really is different from the average florists in the fact that we choose to only deal with higher-end flowers to begin with,” Whitney says.
