Two Boston men charged with killing a man as he shovelled held without bail

The duo prosecutors allege killed a 21-year-old in Jamaica Plain while he was working as part of a shoveling crew while the city was buried in snow this past February are being held without bail.

Donte Henley, 24, of South Boston, and Josiah Zachery, 18, of Hyde Park, were arraigned this morning in Suffolk Superior Court, where they faced charges of first degree murder for killing Kenny Lamour on Feb. 11.

On that date, prosecutors allege Lamour and Henley — both believed to be affiliated with rival gangs — were part of a shoveling crew organized by a non-profit agency. Despite their gang affiliations, each told their crew supervisor they could work together without any problems.

Shortly after that conversation, according to prosecutors, Henley texted Zachery, telling him to come to the work site with a gun and provided him with Lamour’s location and clothing description.

Zachery approached Lamour at the work site, shot him once in the head and then fired two more shots as he fell to the ground before fleeing.

While he was running away from the scene, Zachery pointed the gun at a pursuing Boston Police officer and fired one shot, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney.

Zachery was arraigned on additional charges of armed assault with intent to murder and unlawful possession of a firearm for allegedly firing at a Boston Police officer who chased him near the scene.

Both men are due back in court on June 18.
