Two charged in alleged shooting

Charges were laid against two men in an alleged shooting in northeast Calgary Thursday morning.

Calgary police arrested two men after they found a vehicle with bullet holes in the 2700 block of Barlow Trail NE shortly after midnight.

A victim on scene had suffered a ‘superficial’ gunshot wound to the face, police said. Two male suspects were found at the 8900 block of 68 Street NE after witnesses provided details of their vehicle. They were detained for questioning.

Two weapons, a silencer, body amour, shell casings, bandanas and toques were recovered after a search warrant was executed on the suspects’ vehicle.

“We are very pleased to get this off the streets, but very concerned that criminals have these weapons and are using them,” said Staff Sgt. Keith Cain.

Police believe this attack is drug-related and not gang-related.

Stephen Jonathan Demaer, 21, and Anthony Klayton Kuz, 20, face numerous charges in relation to the incident.
