U of C board approves maximum tuition hike for 2010-11

University of Calgary students will have to prepare to shell out more for tuition after a 1.5 per cent tuition hike was approved yesterday.

The school’s board of governors voted in favour of the increase, the maximum allowed according to provincial regulations, which will begin in the new school year, according to the University of Calgary Students’ Union.

“We’re disappointed, but it was anticipated because we knew the board was leaning that way,” said Kay She, vice-president external of the union. She added that only the union and one other member of the board voted against the increase.
