TRENTON, New Jersey – The husband of a former U.S. Army Reserve officer who was sentenced to prison for her role in a corruption scandal in Iraq has pleaded guilty to laundering a portion of the money she stole.
William Driver of Trenton, a 45-year-old accountant, admitted Wednesday that he and his wife made four payments of $9,000 each to a home improvement contractor to evade transaction reporting requirements when the contractor deposited the funds.
Driver’s wife, former Lt. Col. Debra Harrison, was sentenced in June to 30 months in prison for helping steer millions of dollars in Iraq reconstruction projects to a contractor in exchange for cash, cars and jewelry.
Driver is the seventh person convicted in the scandal. He’s to be sentenced Dec. 3.
