Undercover cop found guilty in bikie gang assault of driver

An undercover cop who was posing as a gang member was found guilty on Tuesday morning of assaulting a driver on the West Side Highway along with other gang members.

The detective, Wojciech Braszczok, was found guilty of second-degree assault, coercion, riot and criminal mischief, the New York Times reports.

Another defendant, Robert Sims, was found guilty of the same charges, in addition to attempted gang assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

In September 2013, the gang of bikers was slowing traffic on the West Side Highway whenthe victim of the assault, Alexian Lien, got into a confrontation with the group, and found his carsurroundedat around 125th Street. With his wife and infant daughter in the car, Lien told the court he panicked and accelerated to get away. In the process, he ran over and broke the spine of one of the bikers, Edwin Mieses.

After that, video shows Braszczok and gang members attacking the car and dragging Lien out before beating him.

The men are out on bail while awaiting their sentencing in August. Nine other gang members havepleadguilty to second-degree assault in the incident.
