University of Ottawa bans bottled water

Starting in the next school year, anyone looking for water on the University of Ottawa campus had better bring their own bottle.

As of Sept. 1, the university will become the first in Ontario to put a complete stop on the sale of bottled water on its campus.

Students and staff are encouraged to use cups, glasses and re-usable bottles at the nearest fountain or tap on campus.

Over the past two years, the university has invested over $100,000 in its water fountains and will be making an additional $75,000 investment next year.
