A building evacuation in the Bronx led to disrupted subway service during the Thursday morning rush hour.

Police received a call from a contractor around 6 a.m. on Thursday indicating that the building at 1232 Southern Blvd. was unstable, the FDNY told Pix11. Authorities then evacuated nine nearby buildings.

Residents who have been evacuated were sent to a nearby school, CBS2 reported, adding that authorities have also blocked off the street around the building, which is located near the corner of Southern Boulevard and Freeman Street in Foxhurst.

The MTA said to Pix11 that 2 and 5 trains, which run on the elevated track alongside the building, were not running between East 180th Street and 149th Street-Grand Concourse in eitherdirection.
