(UPDATE) Snowstorm Juno: Road closures, school closures, flight delays and anything else you need to know

Ladies and gentleman, Snowmagedon 2015 has arrived, and with meteorologists expecting a winter’s worth of snow in one day, there are bound to be closures galore.

As of 9:00 AM on Monday, New York City and Boston schools are still open with only after school activities for NYC public schools canceled.

The MTA has just announced schedules for 26 extra Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) and Metro-North trains to handle the blizzard commute.

Governor Coumo has declared a state of emergency for New York State following the arrival of Snow Storm Juno on Monday.

The governor also announced that roads in effected counties would be restricted to use by emergency personnel, and warned travelers to check and see if their flights out of the area were canceled.

Subways will begin to shut down or slow to extremely limited service after 7 p.m.

Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North will shut down after 11 p.m.

PATH service will switch over to their weekend schedule after 9 p.m.

Buses will be equipped with chains and snow tires. There will be reduced bus service.

78% of flights out of LaGuardia Airport have been canceled and 50% of flights had been canceled at JFK Airport.


Many flights have been delayed and cancelled as a result of the major snowstorm taking over the Northeast.
