A woman died early Wednesday morning at the House of Blues and two other people are in serious condition after taking an unknown drug while at the popular Lansdowne Street music venue.

Police are now conducting a death investigation at the House of Blues and a second show scheduled for Wednesday night has been canceled.

The Suffolk district attorney’s office said that the victim who died was a 19-year-old from New Hampshire and that investigators are waiting for toxicology results to determine the exact cause of death and any drugs the vicim took.

“In light of last night’s tragic events and an active police investigation, tonight’s performance by Zedd has been canceled,” Live Nation said in a statement. The House of Blues is a Live Nation venue. “Our thoughts are with the families and friends suffering now. The safety of patrons and fans is top priority and all involved continue to work closely in conjunction with local officials on this active investigation.”

Tuesday night’s performer at the venue was electronic music star Zedd, who was scheduled to have a second show Wednesday night. That show was listed as sold out. Both shows were listed as for ages 18 and older only.

“Out of respect to the families and friends involved in last night’s tragic loss, the show in Boston tonight is canceled,” Zedd posted on Twitter Wednesday afternoon. “Love and respect to those in pain right now. Our hearts go out to you.PLEASE, everyone… BE RESPONSIBLE!”

A Boston police spokeswoman said officers received a call for help about 12:42 a.m. When officers arrived they were told three people had been taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center after apparently overdosing on an unknown substance.

The three victims did not know each other, police said.

The unidentified woman later died, and another man and woman are in serious condition.

According to the musician’s Twitter page, nothing was out of the ordinary at Tuesday evening’s show.

“Sorry about all the RT’s… I’m still buzzing!…. What a tour opening! OMG!” Zedd tweeted on Tuesday night.

Jay Anderson, a spokesman for the House of Blues, said earlier Wednesday that the victims were treated by both Boston EMS and onsite personnel.

“As always, the safety of our guests is our top priority. Last evening, there were guests at our venue in need of medical treatment during the performance. They were assisted by Boston EMS as well as on-site emergency medical personnel and then transported to local medical facilities,” Anderson said. “One individual has unfortunately passed away and our thoughts go out to their family and friends for their loss. This matter is under investigation and we are continuing to working with local officials.”
